Sunday Bakeshop is an Asian American, French-inspired bakery that celebrates the ingredients and sweets that chef and co-founder Elaine Lau grew up eating. Elaine grew up in her family's restaurant and always loved the atmosphere of people coming together over good food. She went to school for business, then decided to pursue her dream of working in the culinary field.
After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in Greystone for Culinary Arts, she worked at many Bay Area fine-dining restaurants, from Nico's Modern Bistro to Manresa.
Elaine has often worked in both savory and pastry. While classically trained in French cooking, she often pulls flavors and techniques from her Asian roots. As a Bay Area native, she has always loved the diverse and seasonal produce offered as well as the unparalleled availability of quality and unique products.
